A Non-Nuclear Future
Nuclear energy has been basically a blessing for the world. All of the effluent rising from the cooling towers is steam - zero CO2 -- zero particulates -- zero mercury -- zero cadmium. However, nuclear power, as it has been implemented, has had difficult problems of keeping the system operation from faulty operation. The events we all know involving human error (3-mile island), failure of cooling systems (Chernobyl), and natural disasters (Fukushima) have scared the world. Current systems also have the issue of creating nuclear wastes that must be disposed of. It is possible to use nuclear power in a saver way in the future. We will discuss some of the evidence in the future.
